It's a GirlAny man can build an outhouse. Not every man can build indoor plumbing. Her name is Rachel Kathleen. 21 weeks old and developing nicely. Now if I can just hurry up and get Jacqueline potty trained...

Got my check today and, lo and behold, I had fifteen extra dollars. Sure enough, I looked at the fed tax figure and it was lower. Looks like that Obama tax cut took effect. Thank you, Mr. O. I leave the debate over whether or not I think it was a good decision for another day.
Here's what I want to know: What are you going to do with that extra bit o' cash?
Me? I already have an allotment that puts a few bucks each week into a savings account, so I upped it by the same amount, fifteen bucks. Straight under the mattress, baby. This way I don't even miss it.
A final word for the weekend
Have a great St. Patrick's Day. Shelly, Jeff - be safe. Love you all. Keep an eye out for those four leaf clovers.

Put it in a fund you can easily access so you can tap it for your electric bill increases next year.
@ProvokingThought - I was just telling a guy, "He gives back fifteen bucks, but pushes legislation that will end up tacking on an extra thirty to my utilities".
It's in a passbook savings account. Real easy to get to if needed.
Yes...a named child you are waiting for. Enough said.....
@yankeejwb - I have been thinking about generator(s) and changing how I heat my home and hotwater. I live in a area rich in natural resources but I ma not convinced in the future purchasing my electric from the electric company will be the most cost effective method, at least not all of it. In fact, I am wondering if I can actually produce more than I use and sell back the difference to the electric company.
When I lived in Florida, our city owned the utilities (Ocala) May it come to that communites or even developments end up producing their own power /co-oping it to break the back of the utility companies. Necessity is the mother of all invention. This is crap we are having to go through this. What about the older folks on fixed incomes?
@ProvokingThought - Whenever we end up selling our current home and buying another (if we're not overseas), there are two things I'll be looking for specifically:
1) feasibility of heating with wood, either through an existing fireplace system or a structural design that's optimal for such;
2) A spacious two-car garage for my woodshop.
Old folks? Hey, what better way to solve the Medicare/Social Security crisis, right?
Forget the utilities. From what I hear, it's not a tax cut, it's a deferal. You'll have to pay it at the end of the year. I wonder if mine is like that. I didn't even check. I will now.
@dropsofjupiterihh - let me know what you find out. I was under the impression that it was a tax cut.
Thanks, I will. I'm just going to browse used book stores and drink a green beer with some friends. Well, maybe half of one.
Have a good weekend too.
Oh, and congratulations! Two little girls.
My check is more also. I don't know for sure what it is. I could be wrong. Someone called into Rush's show and said that it was a deferral. I'll see what I can find out and if I hear anything new, I'll let you know. @ProvokingThought - Check into photovolteic panels. I think that's how it's spelled. That's how those work. (selling overproduction back to the electric company)
By the way, cute baby!
My grandpa had two girls. He always said any man can draw a straight line, it takes a real man to draw curves. It doesn't matter what the sex of the baby is, as long as he/she is healthy and you don't live in China. How sad. Their men are going through a shortage of women to marry now.

Many people did not go to the IRS site that showed what you had received as a stimulus payment for last year. In other words many people did not receive their full payment. We didnt. I claimed the credit after going to the link and entering what I had received as compared to wht they said I should have gotten. Without looking it was just over 300.00 difference.
The IRS has gotten pretty good about automating what the proper amount should be and correcting it. It is a two way street. It is much quicker in catching errors than before too. I think you can even file your taxes online with the IRS and they have tax prep software.now.
Yikes, two girls. Looks like you'll never get that outhouse or indoor plumbing done. ;) Congrats nonetheless, this is an occurrence that I sadly will never get to be part of, wah wah, so I'll live vicariously through you.
And my extra money will be in the form of "less dollars that I owe." Sold a bunch of stock options to pay for the condo and now I get to reap the sexy benefits. I suppose churches need new golden leaf donation tubs anyway (HOHO CONSERVATIVE JAB! hahaha)
Hi Jim:
Congrats on your baby girl. It's such a joyful journey, what a blessing!
As for the extra $$, my cynicism has reached the point that whatever extra may come our way for now will be paid back in another way later. It's all the same thing, just dressed up to look different. The best thing they could do for us is just get off our backs and let us do what we do best! Whatever. Not too impressed with the political scene right now.
Have a good one! Friends ~ Terri
P.S. Enjoyed the Weekly Standard article on Facebook. Heidi pressed me into joining a few weeks ago. I looked at it, figured what the "hey", set it up and am sorry I did now. I so totally relate to the guy who wrote it. I'm being bombarded with "friend" requests from ancient people from school, people I no longer care to be connected with. They have pretty much taken over the page, pushing down comments from closer concerns, like cousins and people I really want to stay in touch with. Whatever. I'm thinking I may just forget it for awhile or close it down completely. Printed the article off to show Heidi though, her own internet use has dropped dramatically in recent months with a close genuine "friend" (boy), she no longer has the need for the long-distance friends. Later.
